The New Year holiday season is always an active and eventful time in our professional environment, the time when it is necessary to consolidate achievements, prepare for the next steps, and take stock of the current year.

In the passing year we have witnessed significant changes in the industry both in Russia and worldwide. On the one hand, the scrap market remains in tension due to the current export restrictions and a decrease in scrap collection; on the other hand, the ‘green’ trend in the global economy enhances the importance of recycling industry for the world economy. Additionally, in 2021, the official status of the scrap collection and processing industry has been formalised in the documents of the Government of the Russian Federation; approaches for the industry’s strategic development have been defined.

In 2022, the scrap metals industry will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and the Association RUSLOM.COM will celebrate its 10th one. Our self-regulatory organisation has accomplished a great deal of work, laying the foundation for a further development of a transparent and efficient industry in Russia. We were able to prove that by common efforts we effectively address complex and large-scale issues.

We wish you successful projects, growth, and prosperity to your company. Health, happiness and prosperity to you and your loved ones!

The New Year is a time to look back, take stock and set our goals. The past year has posed many challenges for the recycling industry worldwide, due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s destabilising effect on the economy. In this regard, the rules of the game have been adjusted for the metallurgical and scrap processing industries in Russia as well. These adjustments affected both individual enterprises and the industry as a whole.

Notwithstanding the challenges, together we have managed to make the current year productive. Thanks to your support, the Association NSRO RUSLOM.KOM has carried out large-scale work aimed at consolidating the industry, developing corporate training and exchange programmes, including successful international activities; expanded an active dialogue with the government bodies and has been able to bring topical issues of the industry to the public arena.

In the coming year, we will be able to build on what has been achieved, and I am convinced that together we will accomplish even more for the development of the industry and the economy of our country. We have a special year ahead – in 2022, the Russian scrap processing industry will celebrate its 100th anniversary!
